JULIA'S- Pacific Grove

JULIA's- Pacific Grove

Last weekend my family and I decided to spend a weekend at the Asilomar conference grounds in Pacific Grove. We came across a picturesque vegetarian restaurant called Julia's.

The Order: Yellow coconut curry

What it is: A plum based curry with brown rice and specialty roasted vegetables. Topped with fresh fruit.
The verdict: The curry had a slight sweetness to it from the coconut cream and plum. The roasted vegtables added a great abundance of flavor. The vegetable mix included a variety of squash, zucchini, potatoes and yams. The brown rice made the dish very hearty and filling. Overall, the dish was stellar.
The score: 10/10 Highly Reccomend!

The Order: Tamale Pie

What it is: A Mexican inspired dish. Layers of polenta are topped with mushrooms, spinach, and a generous ladle of poblano sauce and tomatillo guacamole. Comes with a side of roasted vegetables.
The verdict: The sauce was spicy, but it had a very pleasant tang to it. The tomatillo guacamole added a fresh zing to the dish. The polenta made the dish very filling. The roasted vegetables were incredible, once again.
The score: 8/10 Good Stuff!

OVERALL EXPERIENCE:

  • Staff is very friendly
  • Creative use of vegetables
  • Beautiful Space
  • Good portions
